In its simplest terms, this session is about how to make a box frame. It is ideal if you need to know how to frame 3D items and memorabilia, especially when you need to tailor the frame to the object being displayed.

One particular approach forms the main part of the content, but alternative methods for creating “deep” mounts and frames are highlighted.   During the day we cover:

  • the concept of shadow box frames, their uses and construction. 
  • how objects and collectibles can be displayed

You will learn how to produce a simple box frame for an object by;
building a display box;

  • creating a lining from mount board;
  • cutting suitable mounts to enhance the display;
  • building a frame for the display box and cutting a glazed panel;
  • hearing about the options for staging / showing / attaching objects;
  • assembling the whole, framed object;
  • using the appropriate fixings for hanging this type of frame

For this session you will be provided with an item for framing.
