In this course we explore, in detail, 3 different methods of preparing fabric based art work for framing. You will then make a choice of your preferred method for displaying some work you have brought along.  You then plan, make and assemble the final, framed unit.

The morning session deals with:

  • choosing the most suitable style of preparation for different types of needlecraft
  • the preparation of the fabric prior to framing and how best to provide an adequate support and mount; 
  • Three main options: lacing; pinning to foam board panel; tight fit through square cut foam board panel. 
  • General principles used in preparing some other types of fabric based art for framing, including a demonstration of stretching and attaching canvas over  a “stetcher frame”

In the afternoon session, you choose a method best suited to mounting your artwork, before being guided through your own framing project. 

The finished product will be an permanent reminder of best quality fabric framing – a much sought after service.
