DIY framing uses payment gateway and card authorisation services from Protx and they include several security features to ensure that your payments are secure and protected.
The most significant security feature we use is called 3D-Secure and it is aimed at reducing online fraud by adding an extra layer of authentication ensuring that the owner of the card is in fact the person attempting to make a purchase.
3D-Secure is the umbrella name for the "Mastercard Securecode" and "Verified by Visa" systems and it is aimed at reducing online fraud.
The 3D-Secure system works as part of the credit card authorisation process by transferring you to the credit cards issuing banks website and asking you to provide the answers to some extra security questions.
If your card is already registered as being part of the 3D-Secure system, the process is relatively straightforward and your order will be processed in the usual manner after your card has gone through this extra level of security checks.
If your card is NOT already registered with your issuing banks 3D-Secure programme, then you will be asked to complete the registration as part of your purchase process. You will only be asked to do this once on any e-commerce site that participates in the 3D-Secure system. After this, you will simply be asked to answer the extra security questions presented to you.
As of the 1st July 2007, all Maestro payment requests must also pass through the 3D-Secure system in addition to Visa and Mastercard credit cards for which 3D-Secure has operated for several years. For more information on either scheme, please click on a logo below.
