This is a special offer for combined Mitre Trimmer & Measure System. This deal saves over £15.00 on the total of the two separate catalogue prices.
The mitre trimmer is used to give the perfect mitre finish to sawn ends of moulding sections. It trims cleanly through finished or natural mouldings, removing the need for filling or "touching up" after joining.
If there is one element of the framing process that is essential, it is accurately finished mitre cuts. Without these, it will be impossible to create top quality frames. The best solution is to use a mitre trimmer to finish off mitres perfectly. Made from heavy machined cast iron, this trimmer is designed for picture framers and carpenters. The fences lock at 45 degrees and 90 degrees with stops on adjustable cams, so spot on accuracy can be assured every time. They can also be set at other angles by means of a thumb screw. This plane/mitre machine will handle cuts up to 15 cm (6") wide or 10 cm (4") high. The limits to height and width are set by the cutters, which are skewed to give a shearing action.
To use the mitre trimmer, first cut the moulding slightly "too long" with a mitre saw. Place the length of moulding against the appropriate fence and remove thin shavings until the correct length is reached. The shearing cut produces an almost glass-like finish on even the toughest end grain, leaving perfect vertical and angled mitres. The blades are ready honed for use but can be easily removed for professional sharpening should the need arise later. When it is demonstrated at exhibitions, the mitre trimmer always draws a crowd and has become one of our best selling items.
The measuring system, made especially for the mitre trimmer, has a mitred measurement scale on each of two fences, on which the moulding can rest as you feed it into the trimmer. Using this system, lengths of moulding can be easily cut to exactly the required length.
