Aza Adlam

Aza has been involved with picture framing since 1986 when she set up her own business in Bristol called “Decent Exposure”. This became an increasingly busy, successful venture, right up until 2001 when she decided to sell up following several close family bereavements in one very difficult year. She completed a Graduate Diploma in the Conservation and Restoration of Ceramics: later she went on to teach at Earnley Concourse, near Chichester, running residential short courses. When they needed someone to teach picture framing, Aza stepped in and became their regular framing tutor, later adding Miniature Painting and Stained Glass to her repertoire.

Meanwhile, in Bristol she also started to teach stained glass, picture framing and mosaic workshops at the Bristol Folk House where she continues to teach regular weekly classes in stained glass. By then she had also found various other ARCA Colleges around the south and south west of the country, where she has taught either picture framing, miniatures or stained glass on regular occasions ever since.

Aza has built up a reputation for being a knowledgeable, patient and inspiring tutor, and in retrospect has been grateful that she was able to turn what were difficult circumstances into something as positive and enjoyable as passing on skills to other people.
