The Joy of Framing

Sports Shirt Framing150.jpg

Have you ever wondered how to frame a sports shirt (or any other item of clothing) so that it looks as good in 10 years time as it did when it first went in the frame? There are a few techniques in getting it absolutely right (eg supporting the shape of the shirt ... invisibly). Find out just what these are on our FRAMING SPORTS JERSEYS training day 21st May, High Wycombe.

Art Finishes CourseAnd what about playing with paints and making a mess? There's a lot more to adding your own finishes to frames than that, but essentially that is the best bit. To learn sophisticated skills, preparation techniques and dribble acrylics over table tops, have a look at our ADDING DECORATIVE FINISHES TO FRAMES, 22nd May, in High Wycombe. You may be an artist, photographer or just want to be part of a social experiment, where mature adults revert to pre-school behaviour in under 60 minutes.

Some places remain on each session: why not make it a bit of a Professional Development break and book both days?

Focus Follow Up

Focus on Imaging was an early highlight of our year.  There's a real excitement at being part of this show. Although we were in a slightly different area to our previous stand placement, you still managed to find us.  In fact we probably had more visitors than ever before: this may even be the first newsletter some of you will have received from us.   If that is the case, we hope you will continue to enjoy, for a very long time, the support, advice and products we have available.

In short, we had a great time: good sales and plenty of interest from so many new and existing customers.  So a big THANK YOU to all for making a busy time so memorable.

Post Focus Special Offers

Great news, especially if you were unable to take advantage of our Focus on Imaging mount cutter deals.  We will be selling off existing stocks of two of our “favourites”.  For full product spec and special prices for these two great little mount cutting systems, click on the relevant link:

... but remember offers only apply while stocks last!

Follow On Facebook

Regular users of Facebook will be aware of the new presentation layout and options.  DIY framing is part of the All About Framing page (search for Framing or enter via website home page).  Whilst we do keep “member” customers up to date via our newsletters, we tend to wait until we have a batch of things to tell you about before launching the next edition: usually on a monthly basis.

However, with its easier to navigate new look, we will be using Facebook much more to publicise things as they happen.  This could be to let you know about new stock items, updates of expected deliveries of kit, special events, promotions and so on.  It may even be that short term deals and special offers will be first noted there.  So now’s a good time to LIKE our page and get to know what FRAMING is All About.

Project 10: Frame Decoration

A promise is a promise!  We said that the FREE seminars offered at our Christmas Open Day would be documented as part of our Project Library.  Although it’s taken a little longer than anticipated, there are, at last, 3 new, free to download (members only) project sheets.  For a quick link visit the Project Library and scroll to Project 10: Frame Decoration.

One for Your Events' Diary

Andover Art Society SeminarIf you belong to an art society or camera club, we could help with your events' calendar.  We are often asked to offer presentations to various organisations: sometimes these are seminars and demonstrations, at other times we run simple workshops.  Over the last two months Richard Buttle (DIYframing trainer) met with Badby Photo Club, near Daventry, and most recently the Andover Art Society.  Each group had slightly differing requirements, but very much with the same ends in mind for their members: namely

  • developing the notion of being able to present work for themselves
  • advice about techniques and a few tricks of the trade
  • knowing what kit and materials are available and where to source them.

To find out more about these events and what we covered, read the  FULL ARTICLE

For any queries about how we might be able to help your socitey or club, use our usual contacts.

Framing Trends

Mitre Trimmer Blades.jpg

Look at what you have been buying!

Top 3 sellers in March are:

1) MOUNTBOARD - Hayseed and Rain Shimmer in the ARQADIA range; Astral White & White Sand in BRITANNIA;

2) MITRE TRIMMER BLADES - new stock means big sales!

3) KRAFT BACKING BOARD - record sales in March.

Other popular choices are mount cutters and sheet glass for collection.

Thank you for your continued support.

Until next time...

April 2012

This feels more like summer than a first, spring newsletter.  With the dust just settling after Focus on Imaging, there seems to be a lot to tell you about.  And talking of Focus, we had a great time (thanks to the many people we met) - we are selling off some remaining stock at similarly reduced prices.  Also, the marketing power of Facebook is not lost on us, and we will now use it more to keep you bang up to date with everything that goes on with all aspects of All About Framing. It's worth taking a look.  Finally, either as an individual, or part of a group wanting to develop your own framing skills, there are a couple of important items here for you.  Anyway, we all know what we're supposed to do "while the sun shines ..."
