August dates around the UK are Brighton, 6th & 7th and Nuneaton, 27th & 28th. In September we move to Salisbury, 3rd & 4th with a Frame Finishes session there on the 5th. The next venue is Cambridge, 10th & 11th followed by Exeter, 24th & 25th. After that we are back up to Manchester in October, running the Art & Photo framing weekend on the 8th & 9th, followed by two of our more specialised workshops: Framing Sports Shirts (10th) & 3D (BOX) Framing (11th). Then at the very end of October we are in two places at once: Glasgow, 29th & 30th and Maidstone over the same dates

Don't forget all of the training sessions at our training centre in High Wycombe and this month  and the Master Classes with David Wilkie (1st & 2nd Oct) with a special offer price if you book both days: a saving of £45.00.

Up To Dates

We now have the diary for 2012 sorted so you can start to plan further ahead: see All Courses. In addition to the range of training weekends around the country, we have also slotted in a base line for our Development & Specialist range of courses. Don’t let jargon put you off: Development just indicates that you need to have the basics under your belt before you try these. Specialist / Professional modules indicate that they focus on some more specific skills relating to a particular sphere of framing. Once you have completed our Basics of Framing and Mount Cutting & Decoration courses, the world is your oyster ... well, in terms of framing courses it is.

Midlands Reminder

We manage to get to most parts of the country through the year. As far as the midlands goes we visit 3 times per year: July in Newark; August in Nuneaton; January in Leicester. You may have just missed one and the 2012 timing might be out for another. So, why not make the most of our Nuneaton dates: 27th & 28th August? If you are part of an art / photography group you could bring a friend. There are still a few places left, so get yourself organised well ahead of time and plan to make a few presents for Christmas. Does that make us the first to mention the ‘C’ word?

Open Day: Thank You!

Our Open Day on July 16th was a great success. The whole building was buzzing with activity and atmosphere. We had loads of visitors in to see the exhibition of children’s artwork and see the presentation of awards / prizes for the winners of the Sunflower Framing Open Children’s Art Competition. We were also delighted to see so many familiar faces and so many new visitors taking advantage of the chance to grab a bargain, kit their framing workshop out at discounted prices and just have a chat and see what’s available. So, we would like to say a sincere thank you to all who were able to join us and make the day so special. And if you did miss that chance read on ...

Open Day: Next!

We will be having a second, Summer Open Day: Saturday, 10th September 10.00 am - 2.30 pm. There will be a 10% discount on usual kit prices (except items already on offer), great deals on ex demo and end of line items, and many bargain buys (selected moulding packs, mountboard). In addition, we are offering another free seminar. This time, for those who have recently got going with mountcutting and framing, we will be looking at how to show off with simple mount cutting styles. Decorative Doubles looks at how you can create layered mounts that go a long way beyond traditional doubles. You will need to book with Judy (judy@diyframing.com) in order to book your place on either the am or pm session. MORE >>

Hidden Gems

Over a six month period our web site was re-organised making it quicker and clearer to navigate. Within that process some of our hidden gems were highlighted and new ones created. Probably the most useful area is the Library & Resources area. You can quickly find what you are looking for, using a variety of intuitive ways in.  A couple of items worth bringing to your attention though are our moulding ready reckoner and glazing products price / discount list.  The ready reckoner is also featured as new Handy Hints Info Sheets. August 2011

We hope you are all thoroughly enjoying your summer, wherever you manage to take a break and whatever the weather.  This newsletter is very much in the mould of, "Now, don't forget..."

We want to remind you about how we can help: we have training around the country; an on-line store offering, a great product range and competitive prices; a warehouse where you can browse and be advised (and pick up bargains). Finally we get out and about, visiting exhibitions and shows, so if you are not close to High Wycombe, we may be coming closer to home:  Art Materials Live, Birmingham NEC starting 3rd November.  So, you see, there are many good reasons for keeping in touch.
