Business Development Week Alert

BWFabricFraming.jpg

Now is a good time to book your place on our March Business Development Week.  The first two days are our Art & Photography Framing Weekend, 5th & 6th March

After that, the sessions start to take your practical skills much further as well as developing your understanding of how a framing business can work (large or small).  And because all sessions are run by trainers, who are owners of their own framing businesses, at the heart of a successful framing warehouse and commercial workshop, you will just absorb the knowledge.

Follow the links and discover how far you can take your framing skills this year.

Organising & Planning a Framing Business (March 7th): understand the work of a framer, workshop organisation, pricing system development and the process from taking an order through supplies to return of the finished frame.

3D Box Framing (March 8th): for items too large to fit in deep rebate mouldings, discover how to build a box, line it, attach in the item and then add a frame – simple!

Conservation Framing (March 9th): discover when to use a conservation approach to framing, what products are needed and the specific skills required to take your framing to a higher level.

Framing Fabrics (March 10th): as well as the additional practical needs of framed fabrics, this will bring out the creative side to your framing.

Creating Business Success (March 11th): now you have the skills, how do you develop the order book, discover new markets and develop your own framing products? Duncan McDonald, owner of DIYframing, takes a day out to explain.

Logan271Blades150.jpg

LOGAN 271 Blades

The Logan 271 blade is the same size and thickness as the 270. The difference is that 271 has a single bevel, being ground on one side only. The single edge blade can be better for cutting thicker board and tougher materials, such as cotton rag board.  These are supplied as a pack of:  20

Logan 271 blades fit the 5000 8 Ply hand cutter

IMPORTANT FITTING INSTRUCTIONS: the side (of the blade) with the ground edge, should be facing you, when fitted, and when you are looking at the side face of the 5000. In other words, the sharp edge faces out from the cutter.

CELLOPHANE WRAP

Cellophane RollAs well as the 500mm x 20 m roll, we can now offer a bulk solution with our new 800 m x 120 m roll.

Cellophane wrap has become a very popular way of providing an acid free protection for prints and mounted artwork.  It is a particular favourite with photographers, wanting a simple way of taking pieces to exhibition or providing a great sales option.

This larger roll makes it easy to present and protect even the largest of your images.

January 2016 & Photography Show

All at DIYframing hope that your New Year has got off to a great start and we wish all of our customers and “members” the very best for 2016.  As in previous years, this is also when we like to ensure you have an “early warning” of our lead in to The Photography Show (2016).

We have included links to, and details of, the Photography Show itself. Now in its third year after taking over from Focus on Imaging its credentials as the premier event for all involved with imaging and photography have been well and truly established.  If you are planning a visit this year, this newsletter provides a convenient gateway to finding out more, not least because of our customer access to discounted ticket prices.

In this edition we also alert you to our stock (new in store) of single edge blades for cutting bevels in thicker / denser boards, and an alert to an extra large roll option for cellophane wrap.  The next Business Development week is open for bookings. Reserved places on the complete week and individual days are off to a healthy start, so make sure you check availability early if you want to secure a place.
