Art In Action: Celebrating 40 Years

ARTInAction40Years.jpg

Once again, DIYframing is delighted to have a stand at Art in Action, Waterperry House, Oxford.  We look forward to meeting up with “old friends” and helping out new customers. To discover more, from the organisers’ website, visit: Art In Action

Creative Working: More Specialised Workshops

FrameFinishes2017.jpg

We offer a whole range of courses at DIYframing / UK School of Framing: people are familiar with our Art & Photography Framing Weekends, but what about our more specialised workshops? Following an Art & Photography Framing training weekend in Manchester, we ran our Adding Decorative Finishes to Frames.  It was a great success with some highly innovative and creative finish styles produced by all of the students.  This workshop not only teaches new skills, but also allows people to experiment with a much wider range of materials and media than they may usually have access to.

As a little 'heads-up', you may be interested to hear that there will be more of these sessions running in 2017, in High Wycombe, with artist and trainer Linnette Bell GCF.  The dates will be (although not currently listed and live):  10th February 2017; 23rd June 2017; 13th October 2017

If you are unable to attend one of these and want to experiment with some ideas of your own, we do have two complete frame finishes kits worth investigating: Frame Finishes Kit 1 and Frame Finishes Kit 2.

Alternatively, you can discover what various media and materials are used for via our Handy Hints Sheet 41: Frame Finishing Products & Their Uses And we are now in the process of setting up next year's (2017) training programme which will feature even more of this type of session as well as many other titles. Keep an eye on our UK School of Framing Pages

New Venues For Training In 2017

Holymoorside.jpg

We are now developing the training programme for 2017.  There will be a new range of venues to try to help those of you who would otherwise have to hit traffic hotspots such as the M25 and M5 / M6 interchange.  We will be travelling into Scotland once more, developing sessions in Wales and going for the North West corner of England too.  There will also be more venues in the east midlands to make sure that driving distances are not too massive.  Keep an eye on our full range of courses as the new dates go live.

UPDATE: our latest change in the north-east midlands is that we are trying out a new venue in September 2016, very close to Chesterfield.  If this is convenient it is certainly worth checking out: Art & Photography Framing Training Weekend, Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th September, Holywoodside Village Hall

New Mouldings Soon at DIYframing

Designer Range.jpg

We have been in discussions with our suppliers to negotiate a bit of a revamp of our mouldings range.  We will be removing some discontinued items whilst bringing in some exciting new styles and will feature, in particular, some vibrant new colour mouldings.  As soon as we are able, we will be updating the range on our site to bring you clear information about the whole stock.  In the meantime watch this space!

Open Day Follow Up : New Handy Hints Sheet

InlayMount.jpg

Open days at DIYframing always bring an appreciative crowd.  We thoroughly enjoy meeting regular customers coming to browse and explore new kit and materials, as well as making the most of special deals and bargains to take away.

New visitors also find it useful to have a chance to discuss what they are hoping to do, see the kit in action and, along with some of our familiar faces, pick up some new ideas from the seminars we run.

This time around, if you were unable to attend these sessions, you will at least be able to have a look at one of the ideas illustrated during one of the seminars.  Have a look at Cutting a Single Inlay Mount.

Whether it was your first visit to DIYframing in High Wycombe or one of many, we thank you for your support and look forward to helping you again in the future.

July 2017

Whilst you head off on, or return from holidays, we have a lot of information to give you something to get stuck in to later.  First of all is Art In Action near Oxford this coming weekend.  Art In Action, as well as celebrating 40 years of running, organisers have also said that, sadly, it will also be the last time this amazing event takes place: so it is even more of an absolute, must visit event for anybody involved with, or interested in the arts.

Our range of training remains as varied as ever with a report on recent success and what’s available before Christmas. We also have information about DIYframing’s 2017 training programme: plenty of new venues around the country and all about to come on-line for booking.

Also in the pipeline is a review of our moulding range with some exciting new additions taking the place of some discontinued lines.

Those of you who attended the recent Open Day will hopefully have benefitted from the many offers, deals and advice.  For those of you who didn’t (or those needing a reminder) we also have our latest Handy Hints Sheet, featuring one of the activities illustrated at the free seminars.
