February Open Day

More and more people are getting creative with their framing and you might be interested to know that we recently completed a fascinating project for the England Women's Olympic Gold Medal winning Hockey Team...every player received a special signed England Hockey Shirt and Photograph all put together in our High Wycombe Workshop.

Continuing this theme our upcoming Open Day on 18th February at our High Wycombe Workshop will firstly demonstrate how to display and mount multiple images, and in Part 2 show how to make a medal, badge and photograph work well in one frame.

Attendees on our UK School of Framing Courses are increasingly asking about these areas so if this is something you are interested in and you are free between 10.00am and 1.30pm on Saturday 18th February we would recommend that you sign up now as places are limited.

Remember there is no charge for this and Richard Buttle will be our tutor for the morning, who is brilliant at explaining the processes and happy to answer any questions you may have.

To book your place simply email us at info@diyframing.com or call us on 0800 801061.

Don’t forget the many reasons to come and see us:

  • pick up some bargains
  • discover new products
  • see kit demonstrated
  • see our extensive moulding range

Access to Seminar Videos

Staying with the Free Seminars theme, during our November Open Day we videoed the two seminars we put on.  The feedback from those sessions was really good and highlighted the value that these ideas sessions have in supporting people’s framing expertise.

For those of you unable to attend (and those wanting a bit of a reminder about what was said), we have uploaded those videos in their entirety (bad jokes and all).  They can be viewed through YouTube on the following links:

Quality Framing, Clear Presentation: How to create a frame that presents artwork appearing to "float" above the mount board and background.

Close to the Edge: Ideas for creating impact using the visible edges of items in a frame.

Gallery Editions Mouldings

In the videos of the November Open Day seminars, we featured our new range of Gallery Editions Moulding (behind Richard).  As a reminder, for those unable to attend events in High Wycombe, we don’t want you to miss out.  Do remember that this new range of mouldings can be viewed via our mouldings store on line, or, if you prefer via a downloadable PDF: Gallery Editions Range

Scotland Venue: At Last!

It has taken some time, but at last we can identify where we will be running our May training weekend, near Glasgow.  The venue we have found is (one of) Houston Kirk West Halls, Houston a village west of Paisley (& Glasgow)*, 6 miles from the airport and the M8.  view map

 * correction from earlier newsletter edition - many thanks for the local tip off and error spotted.

We know we have a lot of interest in picture framing in Scotland, but it’s not easy to find a venue offering ease of access to people from across the country.  We are hoping with the various transport links and motorway access, this may make it more appealing.  Also for those in Ireland, it may be a simpler hop across than to Manchester or Heathrow.

If you have a particular interest in this training weekend visit Art & Photography Training Weekend, Glasgow

A Gallery Tale

DIY Framing have been delighted to support the community at Denham Garden Village in Buckinghamshire, part of the Anchor Group's award-winning Retirement Apartments, Houses and Bungalows.

Denham Garden Village WallThe residents have created an inspiring Gallery Wall to showcase Art and Photography which provides an opportunity to display items they or family members have created that hold special memories for them. DIY Framing supplied the STAS Hanging System which the residents installed with our support. See the photos of the final installation and the opening Reception. The Gallery Wall was officially opened on 30th January, attended by over 60 residents and it seems this will be a very positive addition to social life at Denham Garden Village. There are already plans to extend the Gallery Wall and we'd like to pass on our thanks and best wishes to the residents and Management Team.
