Dates

Dates.jpg

Over the next few months we have venues at the furthest extremes of our range. In May we are in York then moving south to Southampton. In June, by popular demand, we have set up a further date in Glasgow and then head east to Norwich at the end of the month. To round this batch off, in July we move up to Manchester, running Canvas Stretching and Frame Finishes days there in addition to the usual Art & Photography framing weekend. From there we are back in the midlands with a weekend in Newark.

Other, more specialised courses are running in Beaconsfield during this period: Framing Master Classes with David Wilkie; Framing Sports Jerseys; Adding Your Own Finishes to Frames

Open Day

OpenDay.jpg

A quick reminder that we will be holding an Open Day on the 11th June, 10.00 am – 2.30 pm (in Beaconsfield). Special features of the day include: sales showroom - open with some great discounts; bargains and clearance sales - mouldings from as little as 50 pence per metre and ex demo tools; demonstrations of equipment – including new Logan systems; chance to seek advice on any framing problems. In addition there is a FREE seminar, “Keeping it simple with Framed Photography”, which explores using a range of combined mount styles, in white, to enhance the look of your work. Remember, although the seminar is free, you will need to reserve your place.  For more details of the day click: OPEN DAY

STAS Picture Hanging Systems

STAS.jpg

We are delighted to say that we are now a main supplier of the renowned, STAS picture hanging system. Rather than having to measure, mark your walls and then knock in pins and hooks, the design of this system is elegant, easy to install and allows all sorts of adjustments and groupings of artwork. It’s ideal for galleries and exhibitions but is equally suited to use in the home. There is a massive variety of clever features in the STAS range: lighting, different finishes, hangers for varying weights, whiteboard panels ... the list goes on. The ability to adjust hanging positions, without having to redecorate, means that changing artwork or altering the look of a room is an incredibly easy task. To find out more about how it all works, product range and prices, link to our STAS @ DIYframing page.

Contract Framing - A Helping Hand

Help.jpg

If you now have your own picture framing business and it’s moving along really well, you’ll know how important it is to extend your order book. Just occasionally, you may get an inquiry for some contract work. Multiple orders can seem a little daunting, but rather than lose the contact, you want to take on the order.

If you are concerned that an order may be too big, either in terms of dimension or quantity, why not ask for help? Recently DIYframing has been doing just that: helping some of our regulars by lending a hand with large contracts. It’s a win, win situation: DIYframing has a “nice little earner”; you get to keep the contact and make a finder’s fee charge on top of the framing costs. The job’s done, your order book grows.  Next time around you may be in a position to do it yourself.

Odds & Ends

ODDS.jpg

For one reason or another, we occasionally feature small runs of stock to see how they fare. The two we have for you this month couldn’t be further apart: the Longridge, Duo Midi mount cutter and De Walt phillips screwdriver bits. No quips, no clever comments – but we do suggest you have a look.

May 2010

We've been having a Spring Clean too.  Getting organised in the warehouse has created more space for us to keep up with the work generated by Sunflower galleries, as well as helping some DIYframing customers to meet their framing deadlines.  A good tidy up also creates space for that new range of Logan kit we've been featuring over the past few months. The process also throws up some special offers as we clear ends of stock: this month 2mm, 3mm & 5 mm mountboards.  All in all quite a bit to find out about, and we've not even touched on a range of new Handy Hints sheets, new stock, the June Open Day ...
