AWARD FOR UK SCHOOL OF FRAMING

Duncan McDonald & Judy Robertson receiving the award.

The Art & Framing Industry Awards are hosted by the Fine Art Trade Guild. Each year they bring together all sectors of the industry - businesses large and small - in a celebration of art and framing's biggest successes and greatest achievements over a 12 month period. This year, UK School of Framing was presented with the "Innovation Award".  It recognises the impact our training modules have in terms of generating & promoting interest in picture framing and acting as a catalyst to developing 'active framers' at all levels.

Duncan McDonald, pictured here with Judy Robertson (right) receiving the award, is delighted:

FATG Art & Framing Industry Awards 2010 - Innovation Award"I would like thank the sponsors of this award: Emap Connect (organizers of the Spring Fair). A very special thank you to Richard Buttle our training programme designer and to Judy Robertson,  Course Co-ordinator; both have helped The UK School of Framing grow and flourish as the UK’s leading National training facility for the picture framing industry. Their professionalism and attention to detail has been second to none. Also a big thanks to our great tutors, Linette Bell, Jan Doyle and Alan Forsyth, who all manage to bring something different to each of our courses. We all look forward to running more great courses throughout the coming years, from Scotland to Cornwall, meeting old friends and new as you start or progress your journey as picture framers”

After an active period of development, the informal programme of training we embarked upon has been honed into a series of modular workshops.  The UK School of Framing launched that suite of courses and has brought literally hundreds of people into the framing community.  In turn this has been the catalyst for many of you to develop framed artwork as part of an existing, small business and, increasingly, culminating in a number of fully-fledged, professional framing galleries.

And finally ... it is the support and interest shown by you  that make things like this happen!  Many thanks to you all and hope you enjoy being part of this success.
